Learn the basics of Algebra and Trigonometry and then move on to more advanced topics.
Eight Lesson Topics:
1. Solving linear equations
Upon the completion of this lesson the student will have reinforced their understanding of algebraic expressions, adding and subtracting similar terms, multiplication of mono-nomials and poly-nomials, roots, transposing terms, and solving equations.
2. Algebraic signs and exponents
Upon the completion of this lesson the student will comprehend signed numbers through multiplication and division. The student will also understand the elimination of grouped symbols, factoring, powers of negative numbers, multiplication and division of powers.
3. Algebraic fractions
Upon the completion of this lesson the student will gain a better understanding of how to simplify fractions, factoring, prime numbers, lowest common multiple, summation of fractions, and the fundamental and special properties of proportions.
4. Applied fractional equations
Upon the completion of this lesson the student will further their knowledge of proportions, constants and variables, independent and dependent variables, degree of algebraic expressions, complex fractions, and linearity.
5. Coordinates and angle functions
Upon the completion of this lesson the student will gain an understanding of angles measured in degrees and radians, positive and negative angles, the Cartesian coordinate system, polar and rectangular coordinates, and the basics of trigonometric functions.
6. Applications of trigonometric functions
Upon the completion of this lesson the student will experience an in-depth comprehension of the right triangle, interpolation, the law of sines and cosines, rotating polar vectors, and the relationship between frequency and period of a sinusoidal wave.
7. Exponents, radicals and complex numbers
Upon the completion of this lesson the student will understand how to multiply, divide, add and subtract terms with exponents. The student will also understand radicals, imaginary numbers, including the j-operator, and then the adding and subtracting of phasors
8. Analytical geometry-first degree equations
Upon completion of this lesson the student will understand the rectangular coordinate system and how to work with a straight line, such as its slope, parallel and perpendicular lines and how to find its equation.
Student Evaluation and Grading Method: Algebra and Trigonometry with Analytic Geometry
Students are required to complete all performance requirements above. Each of the eight assignments concludes with an examination comprising of a multiple-choice test.
The assignment examinations are open book. The final grade for this course will be determined as follows: eight examinations equals 100% of the final grade.
These are the same 8 lessons found in World College's Bachelor's Degree program. You could transfer any completed lessons from this course over to World College's nationally accredited Bachelor's Degree program and get full tuition and academic credit.
