Course Description:
This course starts by explaining how a Programmable Controller (PLC) functions in an automated system. Learn about the parts of a PLC which enable it to perform its function.

Look at a typical application and learn how to develop a written program for it. Learn interfacing and troubleshooting techniques. Cover Servo motors and servomechanisms along with motion control.

By the course's end, you will have the necessary knowledge to both understand and work with programmable controllers!

A programmable logic controller (PLC) is a computer-based device capable of controlling many types of industrial equipment and entire automated systems.

Emerging capabilities are taking PLCs into new applications while expanding their use in existing ones.

The advent of low cost computers has made the PLC the most common choice for manufacturing controls today. They can be programmed to do a variety of functions through a simple ladder logic program. (valves, relays, motors, lights, etc.) They combine flexibility with high reliability and low cost.

PLCs have a strong presence on the factory floor and will probably remain predominant for some time to come. They are used in just about every industry all across the globe.
