Course Description:
CIE has created a special distance learning course designed for a person interested in learning how a television with Solid State Technology works and what it takes to repair it.
This micro course will prepare you to diagnose television symptoms and understand which circuit and/or component causes the defect.
This program includes 12 CIE lessons with exams (plus 6 bonus TV lessons not required for certificate) and 5 video tapes with workbooks.

-TV Part I: "Intro to TV" Learn about the 35 stages common to all color
TV receivers.
-TV Part II: "The Front End" Learn about the UHF &VHF tuning sections, the Automatic Fine Tuning stage, and the remote control section.
-TV Part III: "Audio" Examine the audio circuitry in a typical color TV then learn about multichannel TV sound.
-TV Part IV: "AGC & SYNC" Study NTSC video detection. AGC & SYNC pulse circuits.
-TV Part V: "Convergence" See how the images are scanned onto the face of the picture tube.
Industry Overview:
Televisions can be found in nearly every home in America. But did you know television terminals are widely used in the computer industry as computer readout devices? In addition, television receivers are found in the entertainment world in conjunction with video games, video tape recorders and video discs as well as for receiving special television broadcasts by cable networks and satellites.
A technician with knowledge of simple electronics principles can expect to repair these products with confidence.
